What Is the BK-927?
The OREI BK-927 is an HDMI 2.1 audio extractor designed to separate high-quality audio from an HDMI signal while passing full-resolution video to a display. It supports up to 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz, making it suitable for modern home theater and gaming setups.
The BK-927 connects between an HDMI source (console, PC, streaming device) and a TV, Projector or monitor. It sends video directly to the display while routing audio to a non-ARC/eARC supporting Soundbar or AVR that has a regular HDMI Input only, enabling formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
The BK-927 is commonly used as an HDMI 2.1 upgrade solution for AV receivers without full 48Gbps passthrough, allowing users to maintain both next-gen video performance and high-end audio.
IMPORTANT — BK-927 Supports eARC/ARC Audio from the TV
The OREI BK-927 can extract audio not only from connected HDMI source devices like a PS5, Xbox, PC, or streaming box, but also from your TV through its eARC/ARC connection. This means that the BK-927 is capable of routing audio from your TV’s internal apps such as Netflix, Disney+, or YouTube back through the extractor and into a connected soundbar or AV receiver. This makes it especially useful in setups where the TV is the primary media hub, allowing both external devices and built-in apps to deliver high-quality audio through a single audio system, as long as ARC/eARC is properly enabled and connected. To switch audio from a connected media device to your TV’s internal apps, simply press the eARC button on the unit, which enables audio return from the TV instead of the external HDMI source.

Step-by-Step Setup
- Connect your source device such as a PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, Apple TV, or Blu-ray player to the SOURCE IN port on the OREI BK-927 using an HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) cable. This ensures support for 4K@120Hz and 8K video.
- Connect the TV OUT (eARC) port on the BK-927 to your TV, Projector or monitor using another HDMI 2.1 cable. Make sure the selected HDMI port on your display supports full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. (Connect the cable to the eARC/ARC port on your TV if you want to extract audio from the TV’s internal apps.)
- Connect the BK-927’s AUDIO OUT AMP port to a regular HDMI Input on your soundbar or AV receiver.
- Plug the included 5V power adapter into the BK-927 and turn it on. The red POWER LED should light up.
- Turn on all connected devices and check the front LEDs. The green IN LED should confirm the source is detected, and the green OUT LED should confirm the TV/display is connected.
- Set your source device’s audio output to Bitstream or Dolby Atmos instead of PCM. Then play content and confirm your soundbar or AV receiver is receiving the correct audio format.
Note: If you want to use your TV’s internal apps, go into your TV’s audio settings and enable ARC or eARC. Set the audio output format to Pass-Through or Bitstream. Make sure the eARC LED on the BK-927 is also lit up.
What Sound Bars or AVRs is the BK 927 Compatible with?
The OREI BK-927 is compatible with traditional AV receivers and amplifiers that accept standard HDMI inputs, including models from Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Onkyo, Sony, Anthem, Arcam, and similar home theater AVRs, making it suitable for multi-speaker surround sound setups such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X systems. However, it is not compatible with modern eARC-only soundbars, including Sonos Arc, Bose Smart Soundbar series, Samsung Q-series soundbars, LG and Sony single-HDMI soundbars, or any system that relies on the TV as the eARC audio hub. It also does not work with optical-only, Bluetooth-only, or analog audio devices, since it outputs audio exclusively through HDMI. In short, the BK-927 is designed for receiver-based home theater systems, not soundbar-based ecosystems.
What source devices is the BK 927 Compatible with?
The OREI BK-927 is compatible with a wide range of HDMI source devices, including gaming consoles like the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, gaming PCs and laptops with HDMI 2.1 graphics cards (such as NVIDIA RTX and AMD RX series GPUs), streaming devices like Apple TV 4K, Amazon Fire TV, and NVIDIA Shield, as well as Blu-ray and UHD disc players from brands like Sony, Panasonic, and Samsung. It also works with set-top boxes and any device that outputs standard HDMI video and audio, making it suitable for both home theater and high-performance gaming setups.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the OREI BK-927 used for?
A: The BK-927 is used to split HDMI signals so that video is sent to a TV, Projector or monitor while high-quality audio is extracted and sent to an AV receiver or compatible audio system, supporting formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.
Q: Does the BK-927 support 4K@120Hz and 8K?
A: Yes. It supports HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, allowing up to 4K@120Hz and 8K@60Hz passthrough, depending on your source device, display, and cables.
Q: Is the BK-927 compatible with soundbars like Sonos or Bose?
A: No. It is not compatible with eARC-only soundbars such as Sonos Arc, Bose Smart Soundbars, or Samsung Q-series models. It is designed for use with AV receivers and Soundbars that have a regular HDMI input only.
Q: What audio systems work with the BK-927?
A: It works with AV receivers and amplifiers that accept HDMI input, including brands like Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Onkyo, Sony, Anthem, and Arcam.
Q: Can I get audio from my TV playing Netflix?
A: Yes, the BK-927 can extract audio directly from your TV through its ARC/eARC connection, which includes sound from built-in apps like Netflix, Disney+, or YouTube. As long as your TV’s ARC/eARC is connected and enabled, the device will send that audio to your soundbar or AVR. To use TV app audio specifically, make sure the eARC LED is turned on on the BK-927, which switches the audio source from external devices to the TV.
Q: My TV only supports ARC not eARC, will this work?
A: Yes. The OREI BK-927 is compatible with both ARC and eARC, so it will still work with an ARC-only TV and can extract audio from it to your AVR or sound system. However, it will not upgrade your TV to eARC, so audio formats will be limited to what ARC supports, rather than full eARC bandwidth.
Q: My AVR has an ARC port and my TV is eARC. Can I get Dolby Atmos using the BK-927?
A: Yes.However, the exact quality and format of audio will still depend on what your AVR supports.
