What Is the HD-108-A?
The OREI HD-108-A is a 1x8 HDMI splitter with EDID management. It takes one HDMI source and duplicates the same audio/video signal to eight HDMI displays at the same time.
The HDMI source connects to HDMI IN on the splitter, and up to eight TVs, monitors, projectors, or displays connect to HDMI OUT 1 through HDMI OUT 8.
The HD-108-A supports HDMI 1.4 and HDCP 1.4, with video bandwidth up to 10.2Gbps. It supports video resolutions up to 4K@30Hz 4:4:4 and 1080p@60Hz, 3D formats, HDR10, Dolby Vision pass-through, EDID management, and HDMI audio formats including PCM 2.0 / 5.1 / 7.1CH, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-EX, DTS-96/24, DTS High Res, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DSD. The application diagram shows one DVD or Blu-ray player connected to the splitter and distributed to multiple displays such as TVs, projectors, and displays.
The HD-108-A is useful for home theaters, classrooms, conference rooms, retail displays, restaurants, bars, churches, trade shows, digital signage, and any setup where one HDMI source needs to be shown on up to eight displays.
IMPORTANT — HD-108-A Is a 1x8 HDMI Splitter
The HD-108-A duplicates one HDMI source to eight HDMI outputs.

This product mirrors one HDMI source. It does not create independent video outputs and does not extend a PC desktop across multiple screens.
IMPORTANT — Supports 4K@30Hz and 1080p@60Hz
The HD-108-A supports video resolutions up to 4K@30Hz and 1080p@60Hz.
| Resolution / Feature | Support |
| 4K@30Hz 4:4:4 | Supported |
| 1080p@60Hz | Supported |
| 1080i | Supported |
| 720p / 720i | Supported |
| 480p / 480i | Supported |
| PC resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 | Supported |
| 3D formats | Supported |
| HDR10 | Supported |
| Dolby Vision | Supported |
This model does not support 4K@60Hz 4:4:4. For 4K@60Hz distribution, use an 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 splitter model.
IMPORTANT — HDMI 1.4 / HDCP 1.4
The HD-108-A supports HDMI 1.4 and HDCP 1.4.
| Specification | Support |
| HDMI version | HDMI 1.4 |
| HDCP version | HDCP 1.4 |
| Video bandwidth | 10.2Gbps |
| Maximum resolution | 4K@30Hz 4:4:4 |
Make sure the HDMI source, displays, and content are compatible with HDCP 1.4.
IMPORTANT — This Product Does Not Downscale 4K to 1080p
The manual’s troubleshooting section states that the HD-108-A does not downscale 4K to 1080p.
| Scenario | Result |
| 4K source connected to 4K displays | Supported up to 4K@30Hz |
| 1080p source connected to 1080p displays | Supported |
| 4K source connected to 1080p monitor | May not display |
| Mixed 4K and 1080p displays | Source should be set to 1080p |
If a 1080p monitor does not display video, set the media source output resolution to 1080p.
IMPORTANT — EDID Management Is Included
The HD-108-A has a 2-switch EDID DIP switch.
The manual states:
| DIP Setting | EDID Mode |
| 00 | All output ports set to 1080p@60Hz, 2CH audio |
| 01 | All output ports set to 4K@30Hz, 2CH audio |
| 10 | Copy HDMI OUT 1 EDID to all outputs |
| 11 | Compare all display EDIDs and output the lowest common resolution |
Use EDID management when there is no video, wrong resolution, audio issue, or mixed display compatibility problem.
IMPORTANT — HDMI OUT 1 Is Used for EDID Copy
When the EDID switch is set to 10, the splitter copies the EDID from HDMI OUT 1 and applies it to all outputs.
| EDID Mode | Behavior |
| Copy HDMI OUT 1 | Uses HDMI OUT 1 display capability |
| No HDMI OUT 1 EDID detected | Outputs 1080p@60Hz, 2CH audio |
For best results, connect the main or most compatible display to HDMI OUT 1 when using EDID copy mode.
IMPORTANT — Use High-Quality HDMI Cables
The manual recommends using high-quality HDMI cables under 30ft for best performance.
| Resolution | Recommended Maximum HDMI Cable Length |
| 4K60 YCbCr 4:2:0 | 32ft / 10m |
| 1080p60 | 50ft / 15m |
| Best performance recommendation | Under 30ft |
The manual also highly recommends using Premium High Speed HDMI cables.
Poor HDMI cables may cause no picture, flickering, black screen, wrong resolution, or audio dropouts.

Poor HDMI cables may cause:
- No video
- Flickering
- Black screen
- One output not working
- Wrong resolution
- HDR issues
- HDCP handshake issues
- Audio dropouts
For troubleshooting, test each HDMI cable directly between the source and display.
Power Requirement — Critical
The HD-108-A uses a DC 12V/1A power adapter.
| Power Detail | Value |
| Power adapter input | AC 100–240V, 50/60Hz |
| Power adapter output | DC 12V/1A |
| Maximum power consumption | 3.36W |
If the Power LED does not light, check the power adapter, outlet, power switch, and DC 12V connection.
Understanding EDID
EDID tells the HDMI source what video and audio format to output.
Use 00 — 1080p@60Hz 2CH when:
- You are using 1080p displays
- Some displays do not show video
- You want a stable 1080p stereo output
- A 1080p monitor does not display a 4K source
Use 01 — 4K@30Hz 2CH when:
- All displays support 4K@30Hz
- You want 4K output from the source
- Stereo audio is acceptable
Use 10 — Copy HDMI OUT 1 EDID when:
- You want the source to follow the display connected to HDMI OUT 1
- HDMI OUT 1 is the main display
- All other displays can support the same format
Use 11 — Lowest Common Resolution when:
- Multiple displays have different capabilities
- You want the splitter to choose a format supported by all connected displays
Understanding the Application Example
The application example shows a DVD or Blu-ray player connected to HDMI IN on the splitter. The splitter then distributes the same HDMI signal to multiple displays, including a TV, projector, and display devices.
This demonstrates the main use case: one media source shown on up to eight HDMI displays at the same time.
