What Is the UHDS-212?
The OREI UHDS-212 is a bi-directional HDMI switch and splitter. It can work in two different ways: it can connect two HDMI sources to one HDMI display, or it can connect one HDMI source to two HDMI displays and let you manually select which display is active.
The unit has three HDMI ports and a SELECT button. Depending on the setup, HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 can work as source inputs or display outputs. The HDMI port on the opposite side changes function based on the selected mode. The connection diagram shows two supported setups: 2 Host to 1 Device and 1 Host to 2 Device.
The UHDS-212 supports HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2 / HDCP 1.4, video resolutions up to 4K@60Hz YUV 4:4:4, HDR, 3D, plug-and-play operation, and HDMI cable power, so no external power adapter is normally required. It is useful for gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, streaming devices, TVs, monitors, projectors, small AV setups, and situations where access to a power outlet is limited.
IMPORTANT — UHDS-212 Is Bi-Directional
The UHDS-212 can be used in two directions.
| Mode | Function |
| 2 in 1 out | Connect two HDMI sources to one display |
| 1 in 2 out | Connect one HDMI source to two displays and manually select the active display |
This product is not a matrix switch. It does not show different sources on different displays.
IMPORTANT — 1 Input to 2 Outputs Does Not Display Both Screens at the Same Time
In 1 in 2 out mode, the UHDS-212 lets you select which display receives the HDMI signal.
| Setup | Support |
| One source to Display 1 | Supported |
| One source to Display 2 | Supported |
| One source to both displays at the same time | Not supported |
| Manual display selection | Supported |
The troubleshooting section explains that because this is a bi-direction switcher, it does not output to two displays simultaneously in 1 in 2 out mode. Press the SELECT button to choose the next display.
IMPORTANT — 2 Inputs to 1 Output Lets You Select the Source
In 2 in 1 out mode, two HDMI source devices can connect to one HDMI display.
| Connection | Function |
| HDMI 1 | Source 1 input |
| HDMI 2 | Source 2 input |
| HDMI port on opposite side | Output to TV, monitor, or projector |
| SELECT button | Switches between Source 1 and Source 2 |
Use this mode when sharing one display between two HDMI sources such as a Blu-ray player and game console.
IMPORTANT — Supports 4K@60Hz
The UHDS-212 supports high-definition HDMI video up to 4K@60Hz.
| Feature | Support |
| 4K@60Hz | Supported |

| 1080p | Supported |
| 720p | Supported |
| 480p | Supported |
| HDR | Supported |
| Full 3D | Supported |
| YUV 4:4:4 | Supported |
To get 4K@60Hz, the HDMI source, display, and HDMI cables must all support 4K@60Hz.
IMPORTANT — HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 / 1.4
The UHDS-212 supports HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 / HDCP 1.4.
| Specification | Support |
| HDMI version | HDMI 2.0 |
| HDCP version | HDCP 2.2 and HDCP 1.4 |

HDMI Cable Requirement — Critical
Use HDMI 2.0-compatible cables for 4K@60Hz.
| Signal | Cable Guidance |
| 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 | HDMI 2.0 cable required |
| 4K@30Hz / 1080p | High-quality HDMI cable |
| Long cable runs | May reduce performance |
The troubleshooting section recommends that HDMI cable length should not exceed:
| Resolution | Maximum Cable Length |
| 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 | 1.5m |
| 4K@30Hz / 1080p | 4m |
Poor or overly long HDMI cables may cause screen splash, flickering, black screen, or signal instability.
Understanding the Application Diagram
The connection diagram shows two usage examples.
| Diagram Setup | Description |
| 2 Host to 1 Device | Two sources, such as Blu-ray DVD and PS4 Pro, connect to one UHDTV |
| 1 Host to 2 Device | One source, such as PS4 Pro, connects to two UHDTVs, with one output selected at a time |
This confirms the UHDS-212 can be used as either a 2x1 switch or a 1x2 manual selector.
