What Is the HD-22VW?
The OREI HD-22VW is a 4K 1-in-4-out video wall controller that takes a single HDMI or USB-C source and distributes it across up to 4 displays. It supports input resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz and outputs at up to 1080p at 60Hz. HDR is not supported.
The device is primarily designed to create a 2x2 video wall, where a single image is split and spread evenly across four screens. It also supports seven additional layout configurations including 1x2, 2x1, 1x3, 3x1, 1x4, 4x1, and 1x1 (clone mode). Built-in 180-degree image rotation and bezel compensation are included to help reduce visible gaps between panels.
Audio is extracted and available through both an optical (Toslink) output and a 3.5mm stereo analog output. The device includes a power-off memory function that retains the previous mode and settings when powered back on. It can be controlled via the front panel buttons, the included IR remote, or RS-232 commands.
IMPORTANT — HD-22VW Output Resolution Is Limited to 1080p
The HD-22VW accepts input at up to 4K@60Hz but outputs to all connected displays at a maximum of 1080p@60Hz. It does not pass 4K video to the outputs. If your displays require a 4K signal, this device is not the right fit. For 4K output, consider the UHD-14VW or UHD-29VW instead.

Step-by-Step Setup
- Connect your HDMI source device (such as a streaming box, Blu-ray player, gaming console, or PC) to the HDMI IN port on the rear panel. Alternatively, connect a laptop or PC with USB-C video output to the USB-C IN port.
- Connect up to 4 displays to the OUTPUT 1 through OUTPUT 4 ports on the rear panel using HDMI cables.
- Connect the included DC 5V power adapter to the DC/5V port and plug it into a power outlet. Press the ON/OFF button to power on the device.
- Turn on all connected displays and the source device.
- Press the HDMI or USB-C button on the front panel (or remote) to select the correct input source.
- Press the MODE button to select the video wall layout that matches your screen arrangement, such as 2x2, 4x1, 1x4, etc.
- Press the RES button to set the output resolution. Options are 720p, 1080p, 4K@30Hz, and XGA (1366x768). Note that the maximum usable output resolution for video wall modes is 1080p@60Hz.
- If needed, use the H-BEZEL and V-BEZEL buttons on the remote to adjust for the physical bezel gap between screens. Each press shifts the image edge by 8 pixels.
- To rotate the image on any individual display for portrait-mounted panels, press the OUT 1, OUT 2, OUT 3, or OUT 4 button on the remote to toggle 180-degree rotation on that output.
- If using audio extraction, connect an optical cable to the TOSLINK port or a 3.5mm cable to the STEREO port and route to your speaker system or amplifier.
Cable Requirement
For 4K@60Hz input, use standard HDMI cables no longer than 5m (16ft). For 4K@30Hz, cables up to 10m (33ft) can be used. Using cables beyond these lengths or below standard quality may result in image degradation or no signal. The use of Premium High Speed HDMI cables is recommended.
What Source Devices Is the HD-22VW Compatible With?
The HD-22VW works with any device that outputs a standard HDMI or USB-C video signal. Compatible source devices include:
- Streaming devices such as the Roku Ultra, Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, and Apple TV 4K
- Gaming consoles such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X
- Blu-ray and DVD players
- Laptops and desktop PCs with HDMI output
- Laptops with USB-C (DisplayPort Alt Mode) video output
- Cable and satellite set-top boxes
- Digital signage media players
Note: The USB-C input requires a source that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode over USB-C. USB-C ports that handle charging or data transfer only will not output video.
What Displays Is the HD-22VW Compatible With?
The HD-22VW is compatible with any display, monitor, or TV that accepts an HDMI input. Since the output resolution is capped at 1080p, the device works well with 1080p displays. It can also be used with 4K displays, but those displays will receive a 1080p signal.
For best results in a video wall setup, all 4 connected displays should be the same make, model, and size to ensure consistent image alignment, color accuracy, and bezel gap compensation across the wall.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can the HD-22VW output 4K video to the connected displays?
A: No. The HD-22VW accepts input at up to 4K@60Hz but outputs to connected displays at a maximum of 1080p@60Hz. HDR is also not supported. If you need 4K output on your displays, consider the UHD-14VW or UHD-29VW.
Q: How many displays can I connect?
A: The HD-22VW has 4 HDMI outputs (OUTPUT 1 through OUTPUT 4), so it supports a maximum of 4 displays simultaneously.
Q: What video wall layouts are supported?
A: The HD-22VW supports 8 modes: 2x2, 1x2, 2x1, 1x3, 3x1, 1x4, 4x1, and 1x1. In 1x1 mode, all 4 outputs show the full image as a clone. Modes can be selected via the front panel MODE button, the remote, or RS-232 commands.
Q: Does the HD-22VW remember my settings after a power cycle?
A: Yes. The HD-22VW includes a power-off memory function that retains the previous mode, input selection, and bezel settings when the device is powered back on.
Q: Can I rotate individual displays independently?
A: Yes. Each of the 4 outputs supports independent 180-degree rotation. Press the OUT 1, OUT 2, OUT 3, or OUT 4 button on the remote to toggle rotation on that display. This is useful when mounting screens upside-down to minimize the bezel gap between rows.
Q: How does bezel compensation work?
A: The HD-22VW adjusts the image on each screen to account for the physical bezel thickness, so the content appears to continue uninterrupted across panels. Use the H-BEZEL and V-BEZEL buttons on the remote to add or cut 8 pixels per press until the image looks natural. Long-pressing the H-BEZEL right arrow button for 3 seconds resets bezel compensation to default.
Q: The power light is off and there is no picture on the displays. What should I check?
A: First, check that the DC power adapter is firmly connected to the DC/5V port and that the ON/OFF button on the rear panel is switched on. Then confirm all HDMI cables are securely connected at both the device and display ends. If the issue persists, try replacing the HDMI cables.
Q: My screens are showing a pink or distorted image. What should I do?
A: This is usually caused by HDMI cables that are too long or not of sufficient quality. For 4K@60Hz input, cables should not exceed 5m (16ft). For 4K@30Hz, cables up to 10m (33ft) can be used. Replace any suspect cables with Premium High Speed HDMI cables within the recommended length.
Q: Does the HD-22VW support audio output?
A: Yes. Audio is extracted from the active input and available through the optical TOSLINK output and the 3.5mm STEREO analog output simultaneously. Audio formats supported are LPCM, AC3, and DTS. You can mute the audio or switch between 2.1CH and 5.1CH audio modes using the MUTE button on the remote.
Q: Can the HD-22VW be controlled by a third-party control system?
A: Yes. The RS-232 port on the rear panel allows control via serial commands at a default baud rate of 57,600 bps. The Micro USB port can also be used as an RS-232 control port and supports firmware updates. It is compatible with Windows 8.1, 10, and 11, and Mac OS 10.10 and above.
