What Is the HDS-31VW?

The OREI HDS-31VW is a 4K 1-in-9-out HDMI video wall controller that connects a single HDMI source to up to 9 displays simultaneously. It accepts input at up to 4K@30Hz and outputs to all connected displays at up to 1080p@60Hz. HDR is supported on the input.

The device supports 13 video wall layout modes, with the primary configuration being a 3x3 arrangement across all 9 screens. Additional layouts include 2x4, 2x3, 4x2, 3x2, 2x2, 1x2, 2x1, 1x3, 3x1, 1x4, 4x1, and a 1x1 splitter mode where all 9 outputs show the full image. Built-in 180-degree image rotation per output and edge masking (bezel compensation) are included for seamless display alignment.

Audio is extracted through an optical (Toslink) output and a 3.5mm stereo analog output. A power-off memory function retains the last used settings when the device is powered back on. It can be controlled via the front panel buttons, the included IR remote, or RS-232 through the Micro USB port.

The HDS-31VW accepts input at up to 4K@30Hz but outputs to all connected displays at a maximum of 1080p@60Hz. It does not pass 4K video to the outputs. If your displays require a 4K output signal, this device is not the right fit. For 4K output, consider the UHD-29VW instead.

Step-by-Step Setup

Connect your HDMI source device (such as a streaming box, Blu-ray player, gaming console, or PC) to the HDMI INPUT port on the rear panel.
Connect up to 9 displays to the OUTPUT 1 through OUTPUT 9 ports on the rear panel using HDMI cables.
Connect the included DC 12V power adapter to the DC/12V port and plug it into a power outlet. Press the ON/OFF switch to power on the device.
Turn on all connected displays and the source device.
Press the MODE button on the front panel (or select the mode on the remote) to choose the video wall layout that matches your screen arrangement. For a 3x3 wall, select Mode 1. For other configurations, cycle through the available modes.
If needed, press the Edge Masking + or - button on the front panel or remote to adjust bezel compensation. Each press shifts the image edge by 8 pixels.
To rotate the image on any individual display for portrait-mounted panels, press the corresponding output number button (OUT 1 through OUT 9) on the remote to toggle 180-degree rotation on that output. Rotation is available in all modes except 1x1 splitter mode.
If using audio extraction, connect an optical cable to the TOSLINK port for 5.1CH audio, or a 3.5mm cable to the STEREO port for 2.1CH stereo audio. Use the 2.1/5.1CH button to switch between audio modes as needed.

Note on Audio Outputs

The TOSLINK optical port supports 5.1CH audio (Dolby Digital / DTS). The STEREO 3.5mm port supports 2.1CH stereo only. If you are not getting audio from one of these ports, make sure the audio format from your source device matches what the port supports. Set the source to Dolby Digital or DTS for the optical output, or to Stereo/PCM for the 3.5mm output.
