Introduction
If you are experiencing issues with your OREI UHDS-102 HDMI Splitter. This guide will help you identify and resolve the most common problems related to video, audio, and device functionality.
Prerequisites
Before troubleshooting, verify the following:
- HDMI cable lengths are under 30 feet (9 meters).
- The UHDS-102 is connected to its power adapter.
- The Power LED indicator is illuminated.
- All HDMI connections are securely connected.
1. No Video Output on One or Both Displays
Step 1: Check the Source Resolution
Verify the video resolution being sent from the source device.
- Lower the source resolution to 1080p and check whether video appears on the connected displays.
Step 2: Determine Which Output Is Affected
Only One Output Is Not Working
- Replace the HDMI cable connected to the non-working display.
- Test with another display if available.
- Swap the displays between Output 1 and Output 2.
- Check whether the issue follows the display or remains on the same output port.
Both Outputs Are Not Working
- Test with a different source device.
- Verify that the Power and other LEDs are illuminated.
Step 3: Check Output LEDs
Verify whether both Output LEDs on the UHDS-102 are illuminated.
- If both Output LEDs are ON, the splitter is detecting connected displays.
- If one or both Output LEDs are OFF, the splitter may not be detecting the display or the HDMI connection may be faulty.
Step 4: Change the EDID Setting
Try switching the EDID mode on the UHDS-102:
- STD (Standard)
- TV
After changing the EDID setting, power cycle the source device and displays and test again.
Step 5: Test with a Different Source Device
Connect another source device such as:
- Streaming device
- Blu-ray player
- Laptop
- Gaming console
If the issue disappears with another source, the original source device may have a compatibility issue.
2. Audio Issues on One or Both Displays
No Audio on One Display
- Confirm whether audio is missing from only one display or both displays.
- Test with another HDMI cable.
- Swap displays between outputs.
- Check the audio settings of the source device. Try changing the audio format from the media source to Stereo or PCM.
No Audio on Both Displays
Change the audio output format of the source device to either Stereo or PCM mode.
If audio works after changing to 2CH audio, the issue is likely due to audio format compatibility with the connected displays.
No Audio on a Connected Soundbar
The UHDS-102 is an HDMI splitter and does not provide dedicated audio extraction functionality through HDMI. It does not work with Standard HDMI or HDMI eARC based Soundbars or AV Receivers. If you are attempting to connect a soundbar directly in the signal path and audio is not working, an HDMI Audio Extractor may be required for your setup.
3. CEC Not Working
Unable to Control the TV Using the Source Device Remote
The UHDS-102 does support CEC pass-through between the Input and Output 1 only. As a result, CEC functionality will work between the media source device and the display connected to OUTPUT 1 so long as they both support CEC, but not on OUTPUT 2.
4. Laptop Does Not Extend to Multiple Displays
Unable to Get Independent Displays from a Computer
The UHDS-102 is an HDMI splitter. Its purpose is to duplicate (mirror) the same video signal to both connected displays.
Expected behavior:
- Display 1 = Same image
- Display 2 = Same image
Not supported:
- Extended desktop mode
- Independent display output
- Multi-monitor expansion
If you require extended displays from a laptop or desktop computer, a SplitXtend product or a dedicated multi-display adapter is recommended.
